Controlled Release Fertilizer, What is it?

Our Ferticote controlled release fertilizers utilize an innovative polymer coating made from organic materials that naturally degrade over time. This unique approach guarantees that our products are environmentally friendly and safe for soil life, as the coating does not chemically interact with soil microorganisms.

The Ferticote fertilizer coating technology serves as a reliable membrane that encapsulates essential nutrients, preventing them from leaching or volatilizing, while also protecting plant roots and grass blades from scorching. By releasing nutrients in a precise, controlled manner, synchronized with the crop’s nutritional needs, we help ensure optimal plant growth over the entire growing season.

We are constantly refining and improving our coating technology to deliver even more efficient nutrient release. Our formulations are designed to meet the specific nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) needs of plants, with an optimized release pattern that corresponds to the plant’s growth stages. In addition to these primary nutrients, secondary nutrients like calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) are carefully incorporated to meet regional soil conditions or plant-specific requirements. Trace elements such as boron (B), manganese (Mn), and copper (Cu) are also added to support uniform growth and prevent nutrient deficiencies.

Our products are engineered to respond to soil temperature, with the release speed varying accordingly. Higher temperatures accelerate nutrient release, while cooler temperatures slow it down, extending the release period. This predictable release mechanism ensures that the right nutrients are available when needed, without leaching or environmental impact. All our products undergo rigorous testing at 21°C in our laboratory to ensure their performance meets our high standards.

As we continue to innovate, we offer tailor-made products that combine coated components with conventional or stabilized fertilizers. From coated urea, MAP, SOP/MOP to various NPK blends, we can create custom solutions in longevities ranging from 2 to 18 months, perfectly suited to your crop and climate conditions.

How controlled release fertilizer works:

  1. The unique process encapsulates the micronutrients of nitrogen, phosphor and potassium and other trace elements in an organic polymer coating.

2. After being applied, the granule attracts water and it passes through the coating.

3. The nutrients dissolve in water to form a concentrated nutrient formulation.

4.Depending on the product design, the nutrient formulation is released over a specitied period of time, i.e. from 3 to up to 18 months.
